Every stranger's a potential friend
You never know what come around the bend
So wear a smile and go that extra mile
And by the time you're dead it will have been worthwhile
Imagine the turnout at your funeral
If you put in no effort at all
So open up, be wise and go and socialise
As Cilla Black once said 'life is full of surprise'!
I've got this habit that I just can't quit
And I'm way too old now to put a stop to it
When I'm out in public I can't stop myself
From meeting and greeting and shaking the hands of every person that crosses my path!
It's what Peter Andre would call 'Insania'!
I'm whizzing around like I'm in Tazmania!
It's small effort for small talk', that's me motto
You cannot prevent me from general pleasantries, so just acknowledge me then you can wander free!
Imaginary friends were a childhood past time
They only used to exist in my mind
But now imaginary friends are of the physical kind
I reach out to touch them and they politely decline
Every stranger's a potential friend
You never know what come around the bend
So wear a smile and go that extra mile
And by the time you're dead it will have been worthwhile
Imagine the turnout at your funeral
If you put in no effort at all
So open up, be wise and go and socialise
As Cilla Black once said 'life is full of surprise'!

Tico jests:
As I didn't even know this song was written I simply cannot comment on the inspiration of this track - was it due to meeting strangers on the broken biscuits stall? Maybe. Was it through 'random friend requests' on MySpace? More than likely. An absolutely stiff Bri proudly gave me a demo for this track before heading to Chichester for the bi-annual 'Biscuit Breakers' club meet. I listened carefully. When it came to putting it down in the studio I wasn't entirely happy with Bri's haphazard attempt, so I gave it a spring clean - making the verses joyous, including a cock-straining lead guitar over the darker middle-eight, and ensuring the showbiz ending was a showbiz ending. The result is fascinating, so I am to be thanked.
Bri Jnr., seeming confused, says:
A local man almost as legendary as Mr Greensocks influenced me to pen this heartwarming ditty. I would often see him around town, attempting to greet and make small talk with literally every single person that passed him by. Most politely ignored him and those that responded to him soon made their excuses and politely walked away. You have to admire his attempts to befriend everybody, regardless of the severely slim success rate. So I felt that he deserved a tribute containing one of the longest choruses of all time. Apart from a brief departure into verses about Peter Andre and the Tasmanian Devil and a middle eight musing on 'imaginary friends', the song is basically one long chorus. The chorus even get's a key change just to keep it going. Even the Duracell Bunny is struggling to keep up.
