Sex! Drugs! And Status Quo!
A cup of coffee, a pinch of Rossi and I'm good to go
Sex! Drugs! And Rhino!
Three chords pumping, guitar amps humping it's a hell of a show
Whatever you want, whatever you like
Oh, anything goes
When Francis Rossi's on the mic
As long as the words rhythm
The four-beat-barre's in time
Rick Parfit says it's fine
Sex! Drugs! And Status Quo!
A cup of coffee, a pinch of Rossi and I'm good to go
Sex! Drugs! And Rhino!
Three chords pumping, guitar amps humping it's a hell of a show
Tugging on a bus, making such a fuss
Be careful or you'll get one in the eye
Rhino, Fran and Rick, simple rocking licks
Coming to a town near you looking for grandma's to screw
Although they're pushing 62
It's the only thing they know how to do
Sex! Drugs! And Status Quo!
A cup of coffee, a pinch of Rossi and I'm good to go
Sex! Drugs! And Rhino!
Three chords pumping, guitar amps humping it's a hell of a show
He like, l-l-like it
Sex! Drugs! And Status Quo!
A cup of coffee, a pinch of Rossi and I'm good to go
Sex! Drugs! Rhino!
Three chords pumping, guitar amps humping it's a hell of a show
Sex! Drugs! Status Quo!
Release notes:
All words by Bri Jnr. & Tico Jnr.
Bri rocks:
I saw the mighty Quo twice in the year 2009 and it was at their Cambridge Corn Exchange gathering where I encountered the titular phrase on a t-shirt at the merch stand. This gloriously authentic homage was born in that moment and I excitedly text messaged Tico the news from my Blackberry.
Back in Space Brain's earliest days, Tico and myself used to jam along enthusiastically with my 7" single copy of 'Whatevet You Want'. I was inspired to rip off the misleading extended instrumental intro of this particular Quo classic to kick off my own dirty. I then ripped up the Quo rulebook of three chords and threw in as many chord changes as I could serve up for the remainder of the song. Because I am that talented.
Rhino gets a well deserved name-check despite not being an original Quo member, grandma's are screwed nationwide and tourbus activities are documented in excruciating detail. Tico even contributes a noteworthy guitar solo. What is our favourite Quo album I don't hear you asking? We both thoroughly recommend their noughties all killer, no filler LP 'Heavy Traffic'.
Tico Jnr. rolls:
What do you get when you cross an over-rated three-chord band, with the greatest band on any planet (answers on postcards for which band is which)? You get this waltz. Bri had the idea and I offered support where I could (especially in the recording as he couldn't manage the riffage that he had previously come up with - I had to do it (with the help of a capo and frequent rests)). I think he did most of the lyrics, although I 100% did the 'eye' one - that is classic Tico, right there. I also did the solo with ease. I am a legend. To give credit to whoever did the drums, I enjoy their ball-slapping fills.
