WOOLIES HAS GONE

Download

Disgruntled by the news, I heard it late last night
All the rumours on the tube, 'twas the Picadilly line
I know nothing lasts forever, everything fades away
I thought their finances were better, how dare it end up this way?

Now that Woolies has gone how can I carry on?
All the hurt and pain inside is like a twistin' turnin' knife
Now that Woolies ain't here I'm realising all the fear
I can't stop the blood I bleed, they've been erased from the high street

Should I feel part to blame, or am I the only cause?
No two pick n' mix were the same, handled by dirty paws
I received my last receipt when they sold their last sale
I guess there's nothing but defeat and I stuggle to inhale and exhale and inhale...

Now that Woolies has gone how can I carry on?
Boarded up shop windows, I can see them any way the wind blows
Now that Woolies ain't here I'm realising all the fear
This has torn me apart, I hope they replace it with Primark, Primark, Pri... yeah!

As I peep around the curtain seeing things have changed outside
I believe one thing for certain that can make this mess alright

I wanna bring Woolies back, no I ain't be takin' smack
I've had a premonition, we can beat the competition
I wanna let Woolies live, it's got so much left to give
This ain't hard to digest, we can make the best, best, be...est!

Woolies ain't open, if you want it
Woolies ain't open, today

Well, it's so cheap and awful local
All we are saying is give Woolies a chance, yeah

I want you to remain open
Through the day, deep into the night
The location has been chosen
I've even started work on the web-site, web-site, the web-site, the we... yeah!

Release notes:
All words & music by Tico Jnr.
Heartbreak provided by Woolies

Tico, rather disgruntled, shouts:

What a distraught time this was for me - and many more - as Woolies faced collapse. I guess I can hurt too. The guitar - haunting, the vocal - chilling, this song is bound to make anyone weap. While others struggled with potential loss of pre-orders or failure to honour two year guarantees, I ended up losing out on the biggest DVD & VHS release in history, as 'In Bed With Tico Jnr.' was put in the bin following the retaillers collapse. While I chose not to mention that in this opera, it was the real reason for getting my quill out.

Bri laughs:

Break open a box of tissues before you push play on this heart-breaking ballad. The tragic loss of the British High Streets finest chain of stores weighs heavy on Tico's mind- he makes you feel his agonising pain with a quivering and howling vocal delivery and lyrics that document his raw feelings on the matter. Nothing can replace Woolies or bring it back and boy does it hurt. Even my broken biscuit stall will not suffice.
