Another fly lands in my mouth as I peddle so fast
Off jumps the chain as I work off my ass
All I want to do is beat my fastest ever speed
A flat tyre now is the last thing I really need
Oh, lord please give me strength I just need a couple more revs
My legs keep on spinning, oh, the pain it never ends
The pain I feel is burning me inside
I'm feeling hungry but I'll stick out and fight the urge 'cos I gotta go out and do it all again
The rain starts pouring, I lose control
Sudden loss of traction and over I go
All I want to do is beat my fastest ever speed
A buckled wheel is the last thing I really need
Oh, lord please give me strength I just need a couple more revs
My legs keep on spinning, oh, the pain it never ends
The pain I feel is burning me inside
I'm feeling hungry but I'll stick out and fight the urge 'cos I gotta go out and do it all again
I gotta help him get into his lycra
I gotta help him make his gains
My body's hurting, blood is pumping
My head is throbbing as I retire to bed
All I want to do is beat my fastest ever speed
Head wind is the last thing I really need
Oh, lord please give me strength I just need a couple more revs
My legs keep on spinning, oh, the pain it never ends
The pain I feel is burning me inside
I'm feeling hungry but I'll stick out and fight the urge 'cos I gotta go out and do it all again

All words by Tico Jnr.
Bri Jnr. ponders:
I hadn't heard this ditty in a long, long time, In fact I had completely forgotten how it went. Upon rediscovery though I must declare that it is a torch-bearing powerhouse of a ballad that really tugs at the bicycle chains.
A subject close to Tico's heart, the cathartic nature of the lyrics really hit home. Too emotionally raw for Tico to dare sing himself, he got me to do the dirty work and I got myself all greased up like a car mechanic at the end of a 12 hour shift on a Wednesday. In fact, listening back I'm convinced that I'm crying at the end, it obviously got too much for even I, Bri to handle. No wonder I couldn't bring myself to listen to it again for a long time and it has never made a single live appearance.
There are plans though to feature the song in a live medley with 'Bicycle Race' when we perform at the Tour De France closing ceremony in 2023 - you heard it here first.
Tico Jnr. with minimal fuss says:
I can't remember the reason or the rhyme as to why, but I know it's a good rhyme. The writing of this ditty was in front of my personal computer, it definitely wasn't behind it.
