WE'RE ON THE MAP

Is this a town or is this a city?
The cathedral ain't looking so pretty
With more scaffolding than Jordan's push-up bras
On a clear day it can be seen from Mars
We've had the cameras, we've had the fame
Most notably we've had Songs Of Praise
The Nene Valley Railway
Has hosted James Bond and Freddie Mercury, ohh...

If you wanna find us
You know where we are
Direct links with London's Kings Cross
Or you can arrive by car

We're on the map, what a lovely day
We're on the map, so won't you come and play
We're on the map, tell me what do you say
About coming in June or maybe May?

I've got a secret inside, I've got a secret to tell
We used to house Erasure's Andrew Bell
We've got links with radios Tim Westwood
Regretably, not everything is so good
I remember when Time Team hit the Fens
I pushed the boat out and bought some Uncle Bens
Sitting at home thinking my life is so great
Living my life under the Borough's gaze

If you wanna find us
You know where we are
Great A-road and motorway links
We're never that far

We're on the map, what a lovely day
We're on the map, so won't you come and play
We're on the map, tell me what do you say
About coming in June or maybe May?
We're on the map, what a lovely day
We're on the map, so won't you come and play
We're on the map, tell me what do you say
About coming in June or maybe May?

Play that guitar!

If you wanna know find us
You know where we are
A new town or a new city
We are...

Release notes:
All words & music by Tico Jnr.

Bri scratches and sniffs:

Peterborough isn't particularly worthy of a tribute/promotional anthem bit god bless Tico for writing one anyway. He highlights as much as possible about the city town, in particular it's excellent motorway and railway links. All married to a jubilantly-paced tempo and trebly guitar sounds. So will you be coming in June, or maybe May? If not, you can always bypass us on the A1 or A47. Cheerio!

Tico Jnr. whistles while he stresses:

Having never been to Peterborough, although I have passed by / through it on the Leicester to Lowestoft run on the A47, I cannot really put the relevant emotion into this song for the poor sods, but I can certainly do my research and produce one helluva song!

With clever and witty lyrics, I've taken the keen listener on a journey to 'Borough, so they don't have to. The 'bring it down' section after the fingering solo adds information about the roadworks and traffic situation there, although without saying it verbally.
