I GOT MY SOUND

Download

There's idea's cooking in my head
Tastes real funny better off dead
Can't touch my brain breathing through the space brain
It has no bounds
I got my sound

I won't be the one who has been and gone
Like a new TV has-been
I won't go on no TV show
And smile at the cameras

So where you heading mister big time?
Take the wrong route, missed that road-sign?
Here's what's left of your faded dreams
Now you're selling burgers on the city streets
I never said it would be easy

I won't be the one who has been and gone
Like a new TV has-been
I won't go on no TV show
And smile at the cameras

So now it's your turn to decide
Whether you'll run stick around or hide
You've had you're chance and now your days are numbered
You see I've found... I got my sound

I won't be the one who has been and gone
Like a new TV has-been
I won't go on no TV show
And smile at the cameras

I won't be the one who has been and gone
Like a new TV has-been
I won't go on no TV show
And smile at the cameras
I won't be the one who has been and gone
Like a new TV has-been
I won't go on no TV show
And smile at the cameras

Release notes:
All words & music by Tico Jnr. & Bri Jnr.

Bri Jnr. looks back gingerly:

This song has so much to answer for. Without it, Tico and I would be stalking squirrels in Grimshaw Woods, serenading the local wildlife with increasingly passionless renditions of 'Teddy Bears Picnic' into our twilight years.Instead we are stalking those very same squirrels in Grimshaw Woods, serenading the local wildlife with increasingly passionless renditions of our mighty arsenal of self-penned dittys, twenty-plus years of an undeniable back catalogue that reportedly has Mick Hucknall so green with envy, that he will be performing at our hometowns Embankment this summer under the revised name of 'Simply Redder'.

This is the 'big bang' of Space Brain songs with an opening riff so dirty, it could fill all of Glastonbury's portaloos ten times over. I am still immensely proud of this intro but the rest of the song (Tico's contribution) simply does not live up to it's astonishing promise. To be fair, nothing could. Mine and Tico's attempts to surpass MC Hammer's lyrical flow fell flat at the very first hurdle and it took us until 'Cross With Crosswords' for us to be brave enough to rap battle with confidence again. A sublime chorus though my dearest Tico, it's just that it deserved a much better song.

Tico Jnr. somewhat cheesed off responds:

Poppycock! As much as that gnarly intro was Bri Jnrs., it took me arriving in the studio and giving it Harry Enfield's 'only me, you don't wanna do it like that', to really put some sauce on his poor concoction.

Otherwise, it's a fairly accurate summary of the past 20+ years in trying to finish that song.
