Bri Jnr. stutters:
After buying time and mainstream goodwill with a commercial E.P and Christmas single, we knew the so-called difficult second album would need to take us back to our roots whilst still pushing our momentum forward. So we set about making a natural follow up to Gullet with just a hint of our recent sell out ventures in order to satisfy both ourselves artistically and our adoring, yet confused fanbase. And boy did we excel not just our expectations artistically but commercially too! Despite the album artwork and the flop 'Berkshire Petrol Sniffer' single, we gained a huge audience in America's deep south and we went double-penetrative platinum in Thailand. As far as second albums go, this was less '7800 Fahrenheit' and much more 'Morning Glory'. Nuts magazine called it 'the lads album of the decade' and they quite rightly predicted that we would be heard 'blaring from ghetto blasters across the globe from Bristol to Bangkok'. Tico Jnr. suggests:
Finally, Bri makes pulls his third finger out and finally makes a worthwhile contribution, with nearly 50% of the sing-along album kind-of-credited to him. Not sure why, but I was going quite mainstream with my input, whereas B' came up with some dashingly complex and clever riffs, beats and limericks. We were well known at the time for referring to limericks as 'ricks. On the continent I was quoted to be-a-caling them 'le-ricks'. I am glad we got out of that phase, although I am not so glad I've mentioned it here. In a dashing moment of sobriety, following six rather large bottles of premium lager, I have to confess, B' did a terrific job on this album. He seemed to be exercising his tiny mind quite a lot, clearly demonstrating a lot of tips and tricks that he had picked up from me over the years. Despite us releasing this album in the year of 2007, we successfully performed most of it during the hugely successful Sparks Will Fly Tour. Many memories were made then, along with many babies. And I should know! |
